    Hi
I really like the Enfold: GYM Demo theme. I am unsure about importing it for it says it will delete everything I have created thus far.

Can I import these “dummy files” and then simply edit these pages and make changes to the images, logos and text and color schemes to make it my own?
Or will it erase what I have created and not allow me to edit these new imported files – only show me how they were done and then I have to start all over again to re-create what I can remember after I “erase” the demo?

I am just not sure I am understanding how this works and don’t wish to erase everything I have done thus far if the demo cannot be edited.

    Part two to this question…
I also just watched the “Child Theme” video tutorial and I have to say I am now even more confused. I am not a programmer for css or php. I didn’t entirely follow this tutorial very well. I am not even sure how to do what it suggested using a Managed WordPress option through GoDaddy web hosting that I am currently using. I also do not have File Zilla either.

So I guess my question is this: If I have a site up and running how I like it and then Enfold releases an update – I update and now everything on my site will be changed and I will lose everything I have created? Am I understanding this right? I don’t think I am.

    Thanks!
(PS – I am a total noob when it comes to this WordPress stuff and I am not a programmer. Be gentle)

    Hey marcgaudet,

About the demos: If you import a demo it will overwrite the settings you have made in the theme, nothing else should be overwritten. If you want to only import one or two pages from the demo then you could activate debug mode in order to see shortcodes: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/enable-advanced-layout-builder-debug/. We can give you the shortcodes for you to paste in to new pages if you are comfortable with this.

About a child themes: a child theme is used to override the original theme (the parent), you will basically only need it if you want to make changes to theme files like what I suggested above for instance. If you make that change to the parent it will be overwritten on updates, it won’t be if it’s in a child theme. You can download a basic child theme here: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/downloads/

    Best regards,
    Rikard
