    Hi there,

I am experiencing same issues as Craig (see below).

I am a Mac User and have used Safari, Chrome and Firefox. Could not save a custom menu.

Any suggestion how I could solve the problem?

I am experiencing issues with adding a custom menu to my web site, which is operating using the Flashlight theme. I followed instructions according to your tutorial video on this subject, here is the issue I have not been able to solve:

I have created a custom menu which I would like to add, called “Main Menu” (as shown in video tutorial). However, each time I go to the Theme Locations box, where the dropdown to select main Flashlight menu to “Main Menu”, I click save, and it never updates. Each time I refresh the menu page after saving my new menu selection, the drop down menu defaults to blank. In other words, I have not been able to set my custom menu to be the main menu of the theme.

Is there a custom code that I can edit into the .php files to ensure that the default menu is the custom menu that I have created? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Craig

    Hey,

this sounds like a conflict/problem in the backend. Try to deactivate all plugins – maybe one conflicts with WP. Please try to use another browser – I heard that IE8/9 has a problem with the wp menu builder (it will be fixed in the next wp update).

    Hi 1Love,

So if I understand, when created your Main Menu, clicked Save Menu then under Theme Locations selected Main Menu under the Flashlight Main Menu and click Save. After doing this, if you refresh the page the Main Menu is no longer listed under Flashlight Main Menu. Correct?

I saw in your other post you don’t have any plugins activated, correct? So…

Do you see a rotating icon to the left of the “Save” button when you click Save?

What version of WordPress are you using?

What version of Flashlight are you using?

    Are you browsers all up-to-date?

I was able to successfully set the menu in Firefox 11, Chrome 19, and Safari 5.0.6.

    Regards,

    Mya

    Hi Mya,

    Thanks for your feedback.

All Menus I had created are shown under the Flashlight Main Menu. However, I cannot save any of them.

For instance, for now there are 3 Menus under the Flashlight Main Menu.

    1. The one which was given from the start which has no name

    2. The first Menu I had created named “Main Menu”

    3. The second Menu I had created named “New”

Now, if I select “Main Menu” and click “Save” I see a rotating icon (for a very very short time!) to the left. But the action is not done. It is not saved because as soon as I refresh the site, my choice is lost. The Menu with no name is automatically selected again. It does not matter which one of my own Menus I selected. I could not save my choice.

    Right, no plugins are activated.

All browsers are up-to-date as well as WordPress.

I am happy to hear that you could set the menu :)

So what can I do to imitate you?

    Regards,

    Jee

    To be more specific..

    I am using:

    WordPress 3.3.2.

    Flashlight 1.6

    Thanks for your support!

Actually it seems to be a wordpress problem – see this post: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/wont-let-me-save-custom-menu

If you uploaded the themeforest folder (with it’s original name /wp-content/themes/themeforest-616050-flashlight-fullscreen-background-portfolio-theme ) the folder name is too long for wp and it can’t save the theme location. I’d suggest to rename the theme folder from themeforest-616050-flashlight-fullscreen-background-portfolio-theme to flashlight to avoid any other issues.
