    Hello all,

    For some reason, I can no longer change the text color in certain parts of my body text at http://www.brainsarefun.com. I can change font, size, etc, but color is an issue. And strangely, this only affects certain parts of the body text – not all. Very mysterious.

    I tried to disable the plug-ins, including Ultimate TinyMCE, but this doesn’t seem to be the problem. But maybe? Any ideas are much appreciated.

    Hi ChrisDonaldson,

    I believe its because the minimal-skin.css has its own color code for bold text which is overwriting your inline styles. You can either remove the bold attribute from the text so that it retains the inline color or edit out the css rule in the specific file.

    To edit the css file, open css>minimal-skin.css and search for:

    .post-entry-portfolio-first strong, .entry-content strong{
    color:#333;
    }

    Then remove the color: #333 and re-save that to your files on your server.

    Devin,

    You are correct, sir! Once I remove the bold, I can now change text color. Is this bug noted on the development side?

    As it relates to the css file, can you point me to where this is and how I access it? I’m a total noob, and often have to be spoken to like I’m a 5 year old. Thanks – much appreciated.

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

    It isn’t quite a bug but more proper markup. Usually, common elements are styled using classes that have the same few properties and values so that they can be stacked on top of each other to create individual page elements.

    What you’ll need to do is use an FTP program like Filezilla (which is free) to access your server and theme files. Then in the following file:

    http://brainsarefun.com/wp-content/themes/abundance/css/minimal-skin.css

    You will search for:

    .post-entry-portfolio-first strong, .entry-content strong{
    color:#333;
    }

    and replace it with:

    .post-entry-portfolio-first strong, .entry-content strong{
    }

    Then save the file back on your server in the exact same spot so that it replaces the current file.

    Regards,

    Devin

    Devin,

    Thanks for this – but seems like a lot of work to simply have bold text that is colored. Maybe this can be fixed in the next version?

    I’ll give it a shot though – really appreciate your time.
