If you have troubles since the update to WordPress 4.5 please read this post before opening a new thread.
We have noticed our website is drastically underperforming when it comes to page load speed (as high as 5 seconds in some instances). I wanted to look into transferring media files over to a CDN to improve the speed, however wanted to check in re: integration with the ShoutBox Theme. Since the majority of the images displaying on sections of our site are the ‘featured images’ for pages and posts, are we able to integrate a CDN – based image? Could this be achieved with the ‘from file’ tab? I don’t want to spend money on a platform to host data if it won’t successfully work… Last, do any particular CDN options not have an ability to be as integrated into the theme as strongly others?
I’m not sure what would happen with trying to integrate a CDN and Shoutbox to be honest. With a plugin like WC3 Total Cache running you should be fine on page load but there are a lot of factors that weigh into it and I wouldn’t put the first one at purchasing a delivery network unless you find the culprit for your performance is definitively image/media based.
I can confirm that I had no problems with setting up a CDN via WP Total Cache and MaxCDN. All images, thumbs and css are handled by CDN perfectly.
Just remember to pull any custom logo you’ve added from the CDN too.
FYI the CDN knocked about 1.5 secs of load time. and it’s less stress on the server.
