Is there a way to center the site? Right now everything is alignt to the left.

MemberI kind off centerd the site but it is not showing completly right. I made a container div started in the header and closed in the footer. I put a red border arround it to see what's happening. It centerd my site but not exactly in the middle of my red border. It still has the +-50 px margin on the left of the menu. So everything is 50 px off center. Why is that and how to fix it? Can anybody tell me how the sidebars etc are placed? Everything I tried with absolute,relative it still doesn't fit.
