i searched the fourms and didn't quite find my answer, however, i did manage to figure this out, so wanted to share this with anyone who maybe trying to do the same thing for avisio
i used the color admin panel to change everything to a dark red, but wanted the color under just the home page slider to be dark grey, so i added this to the last of style.css:
#wrapper_featured_area, #wrapper_shadow ie6fix {
background: #333 !important;
}
