i was going to post a question but figured out the answer so wanted to share it with anyone else who might have the same question -
i wanted to lighten up the alpha on the band that has the description in the slider, and found an image file called 'bg-trans.png' in the sink1 dir in the images dir
all i did was drop the opacity in photoshop to 50%, and got exactly what i needed - enjoy :)
