    I have read a few posts on this and tried the various suggestions. No luck s far. You must be sighing about this question.sorry but I have tried 3 or 4 suggestions.

    From my study on SEO I am being told that including H1 titles in a page or post is very important. I have been using H3 until I ran an SEO audit and I want to change them to H1.

    The H1 font is huge (and the others are also pretty big except for h6)

    How can I change the header 1,2,3 etc fonts size and still comply with SEO recommendations?

    Thanks and best wishes

    Paul

    Add following codee to css/custom.css and adjust the font size(s) based on your requirements:

    #top h1 { font-size: 18px; line-height: 1.1em; margin-bottom: 10px;}
    #top h2 { font-size: 33px; line-height: 1.1em; margin-bottom: 10px; }
    #top h3 { font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.1em; margin-bottom: 8px !important;} /*28*/
    #top h4 { font-size: 8px; line-height: 1.1em; margin-bottom: 4px !important; } /*21*/
    #top h5 { font-size: 6px; line-height: 1.1em !important; } /*17*/
    #top h6 { font-size: 4px; line-height: 1.1em; }

    #top .flex_column h1 { font-size: 10px; }
    #top .flex_column h2 { font-size: 14px; }
    #top .flex_column h3 { font-size: 13px; }
    #top .flex_column h4, #top .flex_column h5, #top .flex_column h6 { font-size: 12px; }

    Thanks Dude.

    Sorry I am not sure where the custom css file is. I cant see it in templates under appearance/editor.

    I tried the code with style css but that did not work.

    Where is the custom css file?

    #107776

    Sorry Dude

    If the custom css is in the cpanel I found that under the choice theme and added the code as you suggested.

    I am afraid that did not work.

    Is the code correct?

    #107777

    Hi,

    Did you adjust the font sizes? custom.css is located on wp-content/themes/choices/css folder.

    Once you are done with the changes remove browser cache then reload the page.

    Regards,

    Ismael

    Hello Ismael

    I wrote this (copied from the choices themes – wp content – choices – css folder)

    /* Have fun adding your style here :) - PS: At all times this file should contain a comment or a rule, otherwise opera might act buggy :( */
    #top h1 { font-size: 18px; line-height: 1.1em; margin-bottom: 10px;}
    #top h2 { font-size: 33px; line-height: 1.1em; margin-bottom: 10px; }
    #top h3 { font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.1em; margin-bottom: 8px !important;} /*28*/
    #top h4 { font-size: 8px; line-height: 1.1em; margin-bottom: 4px !important; } /*21*/
    #top h5 { font-size: 6px; line-height: 1.1em !important; } /*17*/
    #top h6 { font-size: 4px; line-height: 1.1em; }

    #top .flex_column h1 { font-size: 10px; }
    #top .flex_column h2 { font-size: 14px; }
    #top .flex_column h3 { font-size: 13px; }
    #top .flex_column h4, #top .flex_column h5, #top .flex_column h6 { font-size: 12px; }

    I cleared the cookies.

    It is all the same I am afraid. Still a big Header 1.

    Best wishes

    I edited your css above, please try it again with my edits

    Thanks,

    Nick

    #107780

    Sorry Nick.

    That did not work either.

    #107781

    Hi cpwilson2,

    Kindly turn off W3 Total Cache then clear the browser cache and check again.

    Regards,

    Ismael

    #107782

    Sorry Ismael. Everything remains the same. I deactivated w3. Cleared history etc but it remains.

    Hi,

    Please upgrade. You are using a very old theme version 1.2 while current is 1.7 . Just log into themeforest.com with the account you’ve purchased the theme and download the update. Please be aware that the update will overwrite all theme files including custom.css so please make a backup. In the future you should use a child theme to prevent editing any of your theme files. To update, simply use ftp after you’ve made a backup.

    Thanks,

    NIck

    #107784

    Thanks Nick. I upgraded the version and redid the CSS changes (they were all deleted) you advised.

    I am afraid the titles have not changed at all.

    Best wishes

    Hi Paul,

    I checked your custom.css but I haven’t find any custom css codes there, the only thing I see is:

    /* Have fun adding your style here :) - PS: At all times this file should contain a comment or a rule, otherwise opera might act buggy :( */

    I have also checked Quick CSS but still I can’t find the code given above.

    Regards,

    Ismael

    Hello Ismael

    I lam not sure how you can see my custom CSS but anyway.

    I just checked from my cpanel and it reads

    /* Have fun adding your style here :) – PS: At all times this file should contain a comment or a rule, otherwise opera might act buggy :( */

    h1 { font-size: 26px; line-height: 1.1em; margin-bottom: 14px;}

    h2 { font-size: 24px; line-height: 1.1em; margin-bottom: 10px; }

    h3 { font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.1em; margin-bottom: 8px; } /*28*/

    h4 { font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.1em; margin-bottom: 4px; } /*21*/

    h5 { font-size: 10px; line-height: 1.1em; } /*17*/

    h6 { font-size: 8px; line-height: 1.1em; }

    .flex_column h1 { font-size: 12px; }

    .flex_column h2 { font-size: 11px; }

    .flex_column h3 { font-size: 10px; }

    .flex_column h4, .flex_column h5, .flex_column h6 { font-size: 9px; }

    It was never in my quick CSS. But I just tried it there now and it did not work (I have deleted it now) after clearing the cache etc

    What really confuses me is that you can see my custom CSS and you see nothing but I see something. How can we be looking at the same thing.

    I am going to my cpanel, public folder, wp content, themes, choices, CSS

    #107787

    Hi,

    Lets take a step back. Are we talking about http://www.indonesiadetective.com this domain?

    I can see that the theme was never updated ( http://www.indonesiadetective.com/wp-content/themes/choices/style.css ) , and the css we provided is not found in /css/custom.css ( http://www.indonesiadetective.com/wp-content/themes/choices/css/custom.css ).

    Thanks,

    Nick

    #107788

    Hello Nick

    This will be good I hope.

    We are looking at different things for some reason.

    1) It is http://www.indonesiadetective.com

    2) when I go to my cpanel and enter public html/themes/choices/css I see all the script

    3) I can not find that css/custom.css file in my cpanel but from my admin page it is there and it reads version 1.7.

    I already have Ismael’s email so I took the liberty of sending to him Subject: http://www.indonesiadetective.com

    I can send it to you directly with your email.

    I am looking forward to finding the solution to this.

    If you are seeing different things from me it makes me wonder there is something deeper not quite right. This could be the cause for some other woes I am having (maybe).

    Best wishes

    Paul

    #107789

    Hi Paul,

    I just checked the attachments you’ve sent and I’m a bit unsure why the backend (cpanel and dashboard) are showing different from what the site shows as seen in the links posted by Nick above:

    http://www.indonesiadetective.com/wp-content/themes/choices/style.css

    http://www.indonesiadetective.com/wp-content/themes/choices/css/custom.css

    Can you try to access your site via ftp and go to public_html/wp-content/themes/choices/css/custom.css and check if the content of the file is the same with what you have posted above.

    Regards,

    Ismael

    #107790

    OK Ismael. I downloaded Filezilla.

    I have emailed the screenshot.

    Basically as you will see the files showing through the FTP are the same as those shown through my cpanel.

    Interesting.

    Besides hoping to solve my initial question I am really curious how we can see different things.

    Best wishes

    Paul

    Hi,

    Please rename the theme folder to Replete2 and see if the site is still live. If it is live, then call your host and tell them to fix your vps since this is definitely not an issue with the theme. Show them the url to the custom.css file and show them the cpanel having a different custom.css file and ask if there is a mirror folder somewhere else. Once they have you fixed so that your ftp shows the same files that your domain shows I think the fixes we posted earlier will take care of the other issue.

    Oh I just ran your DNS, and you are on Cloudflare. That is the cache. Please turn it off while you are developing.

    Thanks,

    Nick

    #107792

    I renamed the public HTML theme folder choices to Replete2.

    The screen went white. The URL is there but just a white screen below.

    I thought I would go back to my host as advised so changed the folder back to Choices.

    But the screen remains white so the site is basically down.

    #107793

    Hi cpwilson2,

    When I go to the site, I’m not having any issues pulling it up. I am getting the 404 for the style.css which is typically from it having weird chmod permissions where it isn’t able to be read individually. You can try asking your host or if you are able to yourself, change everything in the css folder to have 776 permissions and the style.css to have the same.

    Just to see if that helps things out.

    Regards,

    Devin

    Hi,

    This is the custom.css file url http://www.indonesiadetective.com/wp-content/themes/Choices/css/custom.css (Choices is capitalized when before it was small letter).

    Good. Now please change the code you have inside the custom.css file to the one listed here http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/changing-heading-font-sizes#post-97378 (i added #top to every line, so it’s not the same as what you have)

    Thanks,

    Nick

    #107795

    It works. Many many thanks everyone.

    By the way I received a reply from my host who said the mirror was because of cloud fare.

    When I click on the links Nick gave me before:

    http://www.indonesiadetective.com/wp-content/themes/choices/style.css,

    http://www.indonesiadetective.com/wp-content/themes/choices/css/custom.css

    It now goes to a unfound page, but I am guessing that does not matter now.

    Thanks again

    Paul

    Hi!

    Glad that you solved the problem :)
