Changing layout or template of a single portfolio page

Single portfolio page show the content of the item on the right of the featured image slider in a column view. I was wondering if that can be changed towards a display of the content below the image, just like a typical blog post. In the "edit" view of a portfolio item, there is no such thing as a template chooser.

If that should not be possible without problems, is it possible to deactivate the link in the ajax portfolio view, so that the user will not have the chance to open a single portfolio page?

Hi,

Open includes > loop-portfolio-single.php, find this code.

<?php if($slider->slidecount) echo $slider->display(); ?>

Replace it with this code

<?php if($slider->slidecount) echo $slider->display(); the_content(__('Read more','avia_framework').'<span class="more-link-arrow"> →</span>'); ?>

Now, find this code and remove it.

the_content(__('Read more','avia_framework').'<span class="more-link-arrow"> →</span>');

Hi Ismael!

Thanks a lot for the quick response. It worked like a charm. However, I do have a follow-up question now. Can that single portfolio page now also display the sidebar like all my other pages?

Hi shutterlag,

You would need to add:
<?php get_sidebar( ); ?>

Probably right after:
<div class="four units entry-content">

Though, I'm not sure how the layout currently looks after the changes from Ismael but this would include the sidebar in the same 4 unit grid that should still be there (unless you removed it).

Hi Devin,

thanks for your post. I pasted the snippet where you suggested. Unfortunately, the only effect is that the portfolio items is now displayed twice, the sidebar still missing.

I then tried to include the sidebar at other locations through loop-portfolio-single.php, as well as single-portfolio.php to make it similar to single.php and template-portfolio.php, where the sidebar is included just above the footer. However, none brought the effect I was hoping for.

Do you have any other idea?
