hi, the new wordpress seems to use this (http://adoptagundam.com/?post_type=product&p=1233&preview=true) kind of url. is there any way to change it to something like: adoptagundam.com/category/subcategory/product name
thanksMay 29, 2013 at 2:32 pm #121959
okay i just realise this
the permalink is adoptagundam.com/category/subcategory/product name
but when i clicked preview, the URL is like this (http://adoptagundam.com/?post_type=product&p=1233&preview=true)
now how do i make the URL is perfectly the same as the permalink?May 30, 2013 at 8:12 am #121960May 30, 2013 at 12:29 pm #121961
i’ve done that since the first place…
when i add a product, under the product name. there will be a permalink generated.
this is the permalink (http://adoptagundam.com/gundam-model-kits/hg-perfect-strike-2/)
but when i preview the product, the URL (the address where i typed in my browser) isn’t http://adoptagundam.com/gundam-model-kits/hg-perfect-strike-2/
i want the URL to be the same as the permalink
FYI, the products i added before update have the same permalink and URLMay 31, 2013 at 1:06 am #121962
Go to Settings > Permalink > Product permalink base. At the bottom.
**These settings control the permalinks used for products. These settings only apply when not using “default” permalinks above.
Create a new product.

the permalink is fine
but after i previewed the product,
the url isnt the same as the permalinkMay 31, 2013 at 4:19 pm #121964
This is more of a WooCommerce direct question than what we are really able to directly support (outside of theme issues its based on individual experience with various options/code).
The only thing I found which might be what you are looking for is this from the WooCommerce docs: http://docs.woothemes.com/document/productid-type-permalinks/
From a general search on Permalinks: http://docs.woothemes.com/?s=permalinks&post_type=document&search_in

i’d like to try this one
http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/33551/ (Purchase code hidden if logged out) -custom-post-type/33555#33555
but i’m not sure how to perform the change. could you please explain to me? like what file should i modify, where should i put the codes..June 1, 2013 at 7:58 am #121966
I’m not sure if this code works and I didn’t test it. I’d recommend to insert it at the very bottom of functions.php.

yes, you’re right. it doesn’t work..
so, do you have any advice for me to solve this problem?
or do you know any plugin that can change that ugly URL into pretty URL?June 1, 2013 at 10:13 am #121968
here’s another thing i just noticed. the product created by importing dummy data, has the exact same permalink and URL. does this has anything to do with the new wordpress and woocommerce?June 1, 2013 at 10:22 am #121969June 3, 2013 at 11:09 am #121970
I don’t know what you mean that the demo data product had the correct url while your other products do not.
Basically, the woocommerce settings are mostly independent of anything from the theme to give woocommerce the max amount of compatibility and ability to use more third party add on for it.June 3, 2013 at 4:45 pm #121971
yeah that’s exactly it.
the demo products and the product i created BEFORE the latest update of wordpress and woocommerce HAVE matches permalink and URL
while the products i created AFTER the update, do not
what makes me wondering is the process i went trough to create those products are the same, so why do they have different outcome?(about the permalink and URL) and then comparing the product i created and the demo product, what make them so different?June 4, 2013 at 5:11 pm #121972
I have no idea how the two could be different. You probably need to flush your permalink settings by changing them to default, saving and then switching them to what you want.
As for customizing them, we really don’t have a lot of information that isn’t already available from the woocommerce codex/docs as our support for WooCommerce is limited to basic integration with the theme.
