    Hello Kriesi team,

need your help with a thing or two.

So, this is the main site http://goo.gl/RJgBN built on WP with Choices and this is the shop http://goo.gl/DIuup built on a different platform.

Is it possible the search bar on the top right of the main site to show results from the shop? and in particular product thumbs that link to the single product page of each product instead of blog posts?

Take a look at this screenshot http://screencast.com/t/W0jq62QNZ2N showcasing searching the term “t-shirt”. Site comes back with blog posts results as normal; Ideally I would like to have a 3col grid showcasing product thumbs from the shop; any suggestions or ideas?

Thank you very much for your help in advance,

    Best,

    Bill

    Hi,

I’m not sure if this is possible because Choices is not an e-commerce theme. I noticed that you didn’t use Woocommerce plugin which is the plugin use entirely for AviaThemes. Let me tag the rest of the support team.

Nice job on the site. Looks good. :)

    Hi,

I would recommend you take a look at Replete theme or wait till the next update of Enfold when it will have Woocommerce , which is what Kriesi working on now. The reason I say that, is because though you can use multiple themes as you are doing now, you will wind up doing a lot of extra work.

    1) Is it possible the search bar on the top right of the main site to show results from the shop?

With a lot of modifications, it would be possible. Time consuming, and something I would get a freelancer to do since I don’t see any plugins that can do that out of the box. If you are running a multisite and both themes are on it, there may be a plugin that searches the entire multisite.

    2) Your second question… well sure, its possible to do that. What you are asking is for a custom theme that fuses Choices and your Ecommerce theme along with the Woocommerce plugin. It could be done, of course you won’t be able to ever update either of the three because it will become a custom new entity.

IMO, I would shop for either a new theme or if you are married to these two then shop for a competent freelancer.

    Thanks,

    Nick

    Hello Ismael and Nick,

thank you both for your answers, really appreciate it; just to make things clear the shop of the site is not even build on WordPress but with Volusion.

so i can understand that what I m looking for is very hard to achieve and will cause maintenance issues in the future, is that correct?

As an alternative it would be nice to have the 3 col grid on the search results page showcasing the featured images of each blog post; when i up-size the thumbs dimensions through CSS there I get a pixelated image, so where should I go to change the dimensions of the pic thumbs shown on the search result page? In this way the search results page would be much more graphic with no text but just a 3 (or 2 col) grid showcasing the thumbs of the blog posts feat image.

    Hi Bill,

The most basic way to do that would be to just increase the size of the thumbnail images that are generated by wordpress by using this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-image-sizes/

Once you’ve changed the image dimensions, regenerate your images using the same plugin.

    Regards,

    Devin
