    Hi

    I’m looking to add a second image to the header of a website based on the Flagship theme (ie in addition to the logo):

    http://www.rosendalwinery.com/

    This image can’t be a background image, because it needs to be clickable – essentially the equivalent of an advertising space (top right, above the menu bar).

    I tried to edit the header.php to insert an image there, but it didn’t show up at all, and I’m not that clued up on exactly where I should be placing it in any case. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

    Pia

    Hi Pia,

    The header.php file is correct. You just need to add the new div before the logo and menu get called. So right after:

    <div class='container' id='menu_container'>

    You can do something like:

    <div class='container' id='menu_container'>
    <div class="custom-header-img">
    <a href='http://google.com">
    <img src="myimage.png">
    </a>
    </div>

    Then place it using css and targetting .custom-header-img or whatever class you named it.

    Hi Devin

    Thanks, yes that’s similar to what I tried to do, but for some reason I can’t fathom, nothing shows on the site at all…

    Here’s how I have it:

    <div class=’container’ id=’menu_container’>

    <div class=”headerbutton”>

    </div>

    ….

    And my styling is like this (still to be tweaked, once I can actually see the thing):

    .headerbutton {

    display: block;

    width: 350px;

    top: 50px;

    float: right;

    position: absolute;

    z-index: 1000;

    }

    ….

    I’m not an expert, so I could be doing this completely incorrectly, but usually when you insert something in the header, it shows up, even if it’s just to break something! And whatever I do here seems to be completely disregarded, as if there’s something else in there overriding it.

    Really appreciate your help!

    Pia

    Hi Pia,

    Is this live? there isn’t any headerbutton div class in the header at all. If you’ve pushed the header.php live with that code you will at least see it in the source but right now it isn’t there at all.

    Well, now I feel like a right idiot. Turns out the file I was editing was on the original staging server, not the live site – I was accessing the incorrect location. *blush* No wonder nothing I was doing was having any effect! So sorry to have wasted your time on this – and thanks so much for your help :-)

    No worries, my advice when troubleshooting: start at the power cable and work your way up :)

    Glad we could help :)

    Let us know if you have any other questions or issues.

    Devin
