here I am very happy after creating such a lovely page with amazing Newscast-theme, and now what do I want to do. Clone it. Duplicate, triplicate (is that even a word?)…
Please advice how would one clone initial settings (text alterations, CSS alterantion) of your wordpress theme and then alter only content?
Plugins probably needs to be installed and configured again, but can the basic newscast installation be copied into new blog?September 24, 2010 at 6:29 am #34598
You can use these pugins to import/export your whole database: http://austinmatzko.com/wordpress-plugins/wp-db-backup/

I experimented with database backups and exports, but what it seems to be doing (at least on how I did it) is not quite what I would need. I took backup from http://www.mydomain.com/blog1 – then created http://www.mydomain.com/blog2 and via myPHPadmin selected database for blog2 – the executed import.
When I was trying to log into www-mydomain.com/blog2/wp-admin it was redirected on the browser URL to http://www.mydomain.com/blog1/wp-admin ..
I tried checking the WP help forums but did not see a resolution – must be something simple I am overlooking.
What I am trying to achieve is to have
which both will from now on have separate content. I guess I need to find a way to exlcude login information from blog1 content? Or something?

The problem is that that the database has saved your old homepage url. Download this plugin: http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/search-and-replace.zip – then log into your new admin account (new blog) activate this plugin and replace the old homepage url with the url of your new blog. If that doesn’t work try to access wp-admin/options-general.php and change the standard blog url there – then you should be able to activate the plugin and replace all “old url paths” with your new url.September 24, 2010 at 11:44 am #34601September 25, 2010 at 3:41 pm #34602September 30, 2010 at 11:49 am #34603
up-date on this one: I’m trying to find the right line/place in the wp-admin/options-general.php file to replace the URL – alas my PHP reading fails me here and I am unsure on *where* to up-date the information, since there’s no direct line like http://www.myblog.com url…
any pointers on which part of the code to tweak would still be timely and needed..October 7, 2010 at 5:51 am #34604October 7, 2010 at 6:16 am #34605
