combine portfolio 'always display title' & an expanded 'transparency on hover'?

Hi everyone,

Is it possible to have a fullwidth masonry portfolio show a combined look of the title (always display title), and when a user hovers over, it changes to a ‘transparency on hover’ effect with the title centred on a coloured transparent background? (the ‘transparency on hover’ effect I am referring to is outlined/solved in this thread – https://kriesi.at/support/topic/portfolio-transparency-on-hover/ – and uses this website example: http://delsolphotography.com

The idea for what I am particularly after comes from this website: http://illusive.com.au

Whilst on the topic, is it even possible to change the sizing /color of the title ‘always display title’ to a small bar in the corner of the image, as opposed to the standard large white bar and large black text that appears below each image?
