Please try to activate/deactivate all plugins - maybe one causes your problem. If not, you need to downgrade your jquery libary - although your website claims to use version 1.2.6 you're using version 1.4.2 because you upgraded to WP 3.0.

I think that the effect doesn't work because it's not compatible with the new jquery version.
