If you have troubles since the update to WordPress 4.5 please read this post before opening a new thread.
I want to customize exactly what the portfolio shows. Currently it pulls in projects from all of the categories and sorts by date, but what I would like to do is limit it to pulling in x projects from each category. I thought I could manage this by creating a function called “loop_portfolio_query” and controlling the query, there but haven’t managed to get it to work.
My concern is that we might have a bunch of new posts in category A and B, which will then bump category C out of the running and those projects won’t appear on the front page. Ideally I would have it pull the 5 most recent posts from all categories defined in the template builder.
I’d recommend http://wordpress.org/plugins/post-types-order/ or http://www.nsp-code.com/premium-plugins/wordpress-plugins/advanced-post-types-order/ – both plugins enable you to sort the portfolio entries. Another plugin: http://www.nsp-code.com/wordpress-plugins/ (Purchase code hidden if logged out) -order/ enables you to customize the category/terms order.
