For the portfolios, generally what you need to do is first create a few Portfolio Items. Once you have those created, go to the Theme Options>Portfolio and use those options to select a page that will then display the grouping of those individual portfolio items based on the categories you choose.
If you’d like me to create an example for you on your site just create a new admin account for me and send the details to me so I can log in and create a sample.
You can send the information to my email at DevinVinson (at) gmail.com. Make sure to include a link to this topic so that my spam filter doesn’t grab it :)

There are a number of issues that need to be addressed with your installation. I did the following basic fixes:
- change the name of the portfolio slug name from “portfolio” to “portfolio-item” as you can’t have that slug name be the same name as any page, post or category on your site
- Changed the permalinks to default as the current permalink setting was causing issues (this can be changed later)
The big issue now is the multiple error messages that talk about plugin conflicts. You need to disable either WPML or the Other one as they are causing issues with the basic functionality of the theme. Since WooCommerce supports WPML, I would suggest just using that.

Let us know how it goes. Once you have no plugin interference it should work fine.

Just out of interest is it possible to create multiple portfolios and therefore nested portfolios? It seems this theme only supports one portfolio and multiple portfolio items if I am correct?

You can create multiple portfolio pages by adding additional portfolio sections in the portfolio section of the theme options. Just click on the green plus sign.
If you have not already, definitely read the documentation file that came with the theme. It goes over how to make portfolios, set up pages and other basic theme functions like this.
