I’d like to create a split (button) from the first page so I can provide my users with bilingual viewing options. How do I do this?

If you use wordpress 3 there’s the so called multisite feature – it allows you to host several sites with one wordpress installation. You have to create 2 sites, one as the English version and one as the French version.

It’s not easily possible to create a “dual language site” only by editing and modifying the theme.

    Refer to these instructions: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-enable-multi-site-option-in-wordpress-3-0/

To create the button a link based on css or/and an image is needed.

    i.e.:

    a href="my-french-version.html" class='more-link'>En français</a>

    Hi,

There’s a much better way to do this… Use the plugin WPML.

Out of the box the plugin will allow you to translate all your pages and posts. The custom posts “portfolios” and “sliders” won’t work out of the box, but I have changed the code of the theme so that it all works perfectly. Took about 30 hours of work, but was worth it. You can see the results at: http://macdoctor.lu … It speaks 5 languages :-)

Don’t hesitate to contact me for more info at (Email address hidden if logged out)

    Kind Regards,
