I wanted to know if it was possible tu use the “custom menu” widget with the Angular theme.
Actually I have the following problem : each page that I create goes to the main horizontal menu. Nevertheless, I don’t want all the pages I create to be seen on the main menu (with 20 pages, my menu would be massive!).
With the widget “Custom Menu”, even if I create a specific menu, I cannot replace the main menu by the one I’ve created…
Thanks a lot for your help.February 6, 2013 at 1:41 pm #106290
You just need to go to the Appearance>Menu section of WordPress and create your menu. Then assign your menu to be used as the main Angular menu on the left hand side of the menus manager using the dropdown option under the heading “Angular Main Menu”.

I’m sorry but it doesn’t work. Before writing the previous message, i had tried what you explain, but nothing changed.
Should I modify something in the Widget options ?
I have successfully created a custom menu in the footer, but I can’t in the header. I don’t know why it is so different.
PS : This problem is important for me because I want to create many pages in order to improve my SEO ranking but I don’t want these pages to appear in my header menu.
Thanks a lot for your help.

You have the menu selected in this box and dropdown in the menus manager?
There is no other option for setting the menu in the theme. If it isn’t working, disable all active plugins completely and check it again. Then re-download the files from your downloads on Themeforest and re-install the theme in case a file was corrupted causing the issue.

Yes I have selected the menu as in your screenshot.
I’ve tried to disable the plugins. It doesn’t change anything.
Concerning the reloading of all files, the problem is that it will erase all the modifications I’ve made to custom my website.
Is there a specific folder to reload concerning the custom menu or should I really reload all files ?
Thanks a lot.

It depends on what you’ve customized. If you’ve customized the theme files directly, I can’t say for sure what you would need to reload but you should keep track of changes to the files so that you are still able to update.
If you are worried about losing the theme settings, you will not lose them when just re-loading the same theme files with an update.
The menu function is only using the regular wordpress custom menu funciton so if it isn’t working then there is definitely an issue that needs to be addressed either with a plugin, the theme files, wordpress or in the set up of the menu.
If you can create a temporary admin account for me I’ll log in and take a look.

MESSAGE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM :
My problem has been half-solved (even if Devin helped me a lot ! But I was to re-install everything ! ).
I’m still unable to use the custom menu (probably due to hand changes in php files) but I’ve found a great plugin : “exclude plugin” (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/exclude-pages/)
It enables me on Pages tools to uncheck a box “Include this page in lists of pages”.
So now I can create several pages and choose to put it in a main menu or not.
Hope it’ll help you.February 13, 2013 at 3:23 am #106297
