If you have troubles since the update to WordPress 4.5 please read this post before opening a new thread.
I am having a lot of trouble with my custom page template builder. It allows me to create new, then I add the elements and save, but when I’m in the page editor, the new templates do not show up in the drop down menu. A lot of forums suggest just going to the php file and double checking the code, but when I’m in my ftp manager, there isnt even a file to edit. I’m wondering if the problem is that the files aren’t getting saved in the right place since they don’t appear to be in the folders anywhere? Either way I’m very stressed out as I can’t seem to create any new page layouts beyond the ‘archives’ template that came standard with the package. Please help!
Don’t worry about the stress, its a normal every day thing especially when starting out with development. Sorry, but its true.
The files and directory structure are not supposed to exist since they are created on the fly for each visitor ,by the templates.
The only thing that saves are the images, all else is serialized in the database.
If you are able to create and save a page or a post then you should be able to save a template as well. Is it perhaps that you are unable to find your saved template?
