Tagged: custom sidebar widgets

I m trying to create a custom sidebar for my contact page (http://thefoldlondon.com/contact/) from Abundance Theme Options > Sidebar.
As it clearly says there I can put different widgets on the selected page/category. Going to the widgets page I can see that a
Page: Contact (left) and a Page: Contact (right) have been created so I dragged-dropped some widgets there. (to the Contact (right) one).
After refreshing the contact page, the new assigned widgets are not there to be seen, instead i still see the Sidebar Pages (right) widgets settings as were before the creation of the custom sidebar for the contact page.
I have nothing set as a Displayed Everywhere (right) or (left) so why this just doesn’t work?
Thank you in advance for your helpMay 9, 2012 at 3:10 pm #74639
Again today I tried to create a unique sidebar for each one more page apart from Contact page, the Our story page; but still is like the set widgets on those sidebars are overlapped by the Sidebar Pages (right) widgets, so really is like that the customized sidebar thing does not work. Should I just remove the widgets on Sidebar Pages (right)? and then reassign sideabars and widgets to each post/category?

Can you create a temporary admin account to take a look at whats going on from the wordpress admin.
You can send the information to my email at DevinVinson (at) gmail.com. Make sure to include a link to this topic so that my spam filter doesn’t grab it :)

No not really, thanks for your kind assistance though, but I’m bound and really cannot reveal the back-end.
I was hoping for some general suggestions that may cause this issue, based on your experience. Been trying to find similar posts on the forums but really nothing came up to give me an idea on what to try.
Haven’t really done any PHP edits, just quick CSS and taken advantage of the custom templates for some pages. I’m on Version 1.3 of the Abundance theme (2012 03 05)
If you have anything to propose I will be more than glad to give it a go.
Thank you again for your help

I suggest removing any widgets you have in Sidebar Pages (left) and Sidebar Pages (right). You will still see a sub-nav if you have nested pages but you should see your custom sidebar appear underneath.

Hello Mya, thanks a lot for your help and sorry for the late reply.
The thing is that if i remove the widgets on Sidebar Pages (right) don’t I have to create custom sidebars for each page then separately? I really want to avoid that and keep things more simple as most of the pages should have the same widgets except for those two (contact and our story page).
ps. I have opened another thread regarding an issue I have with feedburner feed (http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/feed-burner-abundance),
please do check it and tell me what you think about it also.
Thank you a lot in advance :)

Without looking to see what the setup is its a bit hard to give general advice. In setting up the same thing on my test install, I had no issues.
Make sure that on your “Contact page” you have the Page Layout set to display a sidebar and not just default. This is always the first thing I check with something like this and would have if I logged in remotely so start there if you have not already.
