Could you please help me to change Thumbnails for the Portfolio Items? The custom thumbnail feature works for the Gallery without any problems, but when I try to change thumbnail for the portfolio item the thumbnail size changes only at the backend not on the website itself.
What could be the problem?
Thank you in advance.October 2, 2011 at 8:27 am #53128
maybe you need to regenerate your thumbnails with: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/October 2, 2011 at 1:59 pm #53129
Hi. Thanks for your prompt reply. But I think you misunderstood my problem. Sorry if I did not explain it properly. English is not my first language.
In a Media Library I click on “Edit Image” . In Thumbnail Settings I choose “Thumbnail”. I crop the part of the image which I would like to be a thumbnail. After I update the media settings the thumbnails settings work only inside the Media Library (I can see the thumbnail exactly how I want it to be) but I want the same Thumbnails be displayed on my website at the Portfolio page as well. Currently it automatically shows the middle part of the original image.
The same Thumbnail setup process works for the Gallery page where I can see the part of the picture I set up as a thumbnail.
Am I doing something wrong for the Portfolio page? Or you are not supposed to set up the thumbnail for the Portfolio?October 3, 2011 at 6:03 am #53130
No the portfolio doesn’t use the thumbnails you refer to but generates them automatically based on defined thumbnail sizes in function.php. The disadvantage is that the solution isn’t very fexible – i.e. wordpress always center crops the images and doesn’t allow manual cropping.October 3, 2011 at 2:57 pm #53131
I see… Are you planning to upgrade this option in near future? The thumbnails for my portfolio page do not look very attractive as they show just enlarged middle part of the logos…October 3, 2011 at 6:24 pm #53132
Unfortunately I dont think that I am able to implement this feature into the theme, simple because of the way thumbnails and bigger versions of those thumbs are called automatically. The Problem is that I would need to sacrifice the current ease of use. I will have a look at it again when wordpress changes the media uploader with the next major version but for now I cant really help. Sorry for that…October 4, 2011 at 12:05 am #53133
