I've got a number of pages I want a fixed background image too and have uploaded a few with success. The issue comes when I have 2 sub pages. The sub pages and parent page all automatically default to show the same background image, whether it's uploaded to the parent page or not. Is there any way to stop this and to have different images on each (but not scrolling)?

There are a myriad of ways to customize this theme; thus without visually inspecting your specific issue, it would be very difficult to provide you with a reliable answer.

The parent page is:
http://31.25.191.49/~photos/details/
The sub pages taking the same image are:
http://31.25.191.49/~photos/faq/ and
http://31.25.191.49/~photos/friends/
The other 2 sub pages there do not have an image uploaded and therefore are taking the default background image. I would like each of the 4 sub pages to show a different image background.

I am sorry I missed your email, spammers have been hammering this email account and I missed it somehow. What I see on the links you gave:
The first page, parent, is a 404 (file not found) and has a big cake in the background
The faq page has background of people standing on grass/
The friends page also has the same cake as the first page.
The rule which guides the background images in Flashlight is 'If no Gallery Pictures are uploaded the default background picture set in your Theme Settings will be displayed.'
So unless you provide a background image for a page, it will default to whatever image you listed in the main Flashlight settings. I am sorry if I misunderstood the question, but where should the pages with no background set get unique backgrounds from? or do you want them to be without a background image ?

I since moved some of the pages around, hence the 404 to Details.
What you say above is what I understood already and makes sense - the issue was that I did have 4 sub-pages and all of them would always automatically default to the last uploaded individual image, i.e. when trying to upload unique images to those 4 sub-pages, for instance, when uploading the 2nd individual image, the 1st subpage would default to the last uploaded image which was only meant for the 2nd page, and so on. However, since moving pages around and changing the templates the problem has been resolved. I now have no more than 2 sub-pages.
Aside from this, a follow up question is this:
On this page: http://31.25.191.49/~photos/gratitude/ I have the flexible grid gallery option to be able to get the full width page, but, I also only want the image to be displayed on the background but this would then mean a different option. How can I get the image to only show on the background but keep the full width but get rid of the smaller image on the same page at the bottom left?

Hi,
I was able to have a background image without the thumbnail on a new page, by uploading the gallery image, selecting to insert it into a gallery as the last option
1) Layout Option > Choose a Page Layout > Default layout big
2) Then on the New Page itself, I only selected Gallery Layout: 'As background slider only', and under Background Gallery Image Cropping/re sizing: Images should be scaled to fit with cropping.

Previously I was told that you had to have the Flexible Grid gallery option to maintain the full width page aspect so while the instructions you give do get rid of the smaller image below, they then get the page in half.
