    I’m using the testimonial area on the main page to promote sponsors for a non-profit art center. I needed to have 2 rows of clickable images available so I found where to allow that in the .php file, and then adjusted the css so the testimonial arrow was positioned lower.

    The only other css adjustments I made were to adjust text spacing in the entry area, and to adjust the top spacing between the testimonial images and the testimonial header. I made changes to lines:

    1129 – made the quotes transparent by making display – none

    1183 – changed from 77 to 147 (to reposition arrow)

    1230-1231 adjusted the padding from 18 to 5px (reduce space between header and testimonial images.

    This displays fine in all modern browsers, but in IE7 and some older Linux browsers, the testimonial entry box covers the first row of the testimonial images. Is it possible to correct this? I’ve tried everything I know without luck.

    I read on some forums that fixing this involves making sure the parent wrapper for the offending content is also specified with relative positioning. But I haven’t a clue what the parent is for the testimonial area.

    The website is here:

    Any help is appreciated.

    The div “#testimonial” is positioned relative so that’s not the problem. You can try to to change margin-top for the class “testimonial_slides” in style.css to another value so i.e. change:

    .testimonial_slides{
    clear:both;
    float:left;
    position:relative;
    width:100%;
    margin-top:0px;
    }

    to

    .testimonial_slides{
    clear:both;
    float:left;
    position:relative;
    width:100%;
    margin-top:30px;
    }

    or use conditional comments for IE7 like:

    <!--[if IE 7]>
    <style>
    .testimonial_slides{
    margin-top:30px;
    }
    </style>
    <![endif]-->

    in header.php

    Thanks…I already tried the margin adjustment in the css file. It messes up other browsers…so I’ll give the conditional comment a try in the header.php file.

    I sat down to try this, but explain to me why the conditional comments go in the header.php and not the index.php file? I tried the above code in both and unless I’m putting it in the wrong place in the file (a distinct possibility), it:

    1. Doesn’t have any affect.

    2. Displays the text string – .testimonial_slides{

    margin-top:30px;} – in IE7 (which obviously it should not)

    So either the code needs some tweaking or I’m putting it in the wrong place in the file. I don’t code full-time but it seems to me it would go in the index.php file for starters.

    Thanks again for your help in sorting this out.

    Yep, I forgot the style tags – I corrected the code above.

    Thanks…I’ll give this a try.

    That worked perfectly!

    I noticed you also have a PNG fix in the header.php file for IE6, but my transparent PNG files still either show up with the dreaded gray background, or don’t show up at all on certain pages in IE6. Is there another fix that would correct that in IE6? This is extremely minor but I did have someone testing out the website for me who was actually still using IE6! Hard to believe…but true.

    Thanks in advance.

    You can add the class “ie6fix” to your pngs. So your images will be processed by the pngfix javascript too.
