All the images I have imported into Galleries on my site, using Flashlight theme, are fuzzy. They look almost like they were out of focus at the time I captured the image, which is not the case.
This leads me to ask if when an image in uploaded into a Flashlight gallery (using Image Gallery), if the theme down samples/deres' the image?
I've spent hours experimenting with different exporting settings from Lightroom 4. When I export an image as JPEG, 60% quality, 360 ppi, and 2,000 pixels on the long side of the image, the image appears great when opened independently (e.g. in Preview). But, once I upload it into the Flashlight theme, the image appears soft; edges are not clearly defined.
Take a look at the 5th image at: http://jeffhenry.me/galleries/new-zealand/
The same image, uploaded from the same exact file is also at: http://jeffhenry.me/galleries/muriwai-test/
The non-gallery image is significantly sharper and looks better. Why are the images in Galleries not the same quality? For a portfolio theme, one where people are going to show off photography and other art, this seems to be a step in the wrong direction?
BTW, if I choose to display a Flexible Grid Gallery, and then click on a single image, the quality is much better. However, that's not how I want visitors to my site to view the images.
Thanks for your help.
Jeff
