I installed wordpress, then installed your theme for a project I’m working on.
Just can’t figure out how to get the home page to look like your demo.
Here’s what it looks like now: http://www.peopleprofitconsulting.com/site/
FYI: I added a long top banner image and changed the background color. That was it!November 30, 2011 at 8:17 am #57336
check if you set a static homepage (Settings > Reading) – if yes please deselect the static page option. The dummy content won’t reproduce the demo page exactly but just imports some parts of the content (because of license reasons with images, etc. and because of the importer script limitations – i.e. dynamic templates aren’t supported by the dummy content importer).November 30, 2011 at 2:16 pm #57337
Thanks, I searched your support forum before and saw that someone else asked a similar question.
I did make sure a static homepage is deselected.
It’s currently on ‘Front Page Displays: Your Latest Posts’
Is this were the custom template comes in?November 30, 2011 at 6:29 pm #57338
Ok, I’m reading through your documentation and read this…
“If you want to make the front page look like the one in the theme demo make sure you select a page and then create a unqiue dynamic page template.”
I must say this is very disheartening since I bought your theme based on your demo. I am not as skilled in WordPress to figure these things out on my own hence why I purchased a theme thinking I could simply replace text and images as shown.November 30, 2011 at 11:57 pm #57339
Ok I think I’m getting it now. Next time it would help to mention this somewhere upfront that this template requires some work in order to get it to look exactly like the demo. Otherwise its a bit misleading. Hope I explained myself well. Still, its an awesome theme and you do awesome work. –DNTDecember 1, 2011 at 5:17 am #57340
Good to see you’ve figured it out :)
We believe that after reading the documentation files everything should be self-explanatory, to work with the theme no WordPress knowledge is required. We’ll look into making it more clear for users that it requires some small & logical steps to get everything set up like the demo, though.
Glad you like the theme :)
