Hi guys, First off I would like to say that the choices theme that I bought from you guys is probably one of the nicest themes Ive ever worked with. I have had no issues at all and any that I have had I could easily fix myself. Unfortunetly I have come across an issue relating to some of the elements on the site flashing black or sometimes the page will render black elements and when you hover over them they usually go away. An even larger issue is I cant always reproduce this issue, it happens randomly. I have never seen anything like this and Im kinda leaning towards that maybe it could be a css issue, some sort of conflict or something, I really do not know. the url to my site is http://www.clearsolid.com . If you can offer any advice on how to go about fixing this issue it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, and keep up the great work! :)August 17, 2012 at 3:53 am #87482
I visited the site, tested it in 5 browsers and it looks good. No black screens etc.

ya this is a tough one because it does not always occur, did you try hovering over some of the elements such as the social media icons at the top, I find it happens when I hover over those and the slider many times, its a tough one to reproduce for sure. would it help if I could capture a screen shot maybe?August 21, 2012 at 12:56 am #87484
There are a couple of things you can try:
Update your theme to the most recent version which is available from your downloads on Themeforest. You can install the new files in the same way you first installed the theme.
Second, try and find a specific set of steps that replicate what is happening. Usually if it is something you can make happen under a specific set of circumstances there is something else involved (another program running in the background, memory leaks etc).

so I have managed to capture a screen shot of what I am talking about. is there an email I can send it to. Also I am not the only one who has noticed it , I have a couple other working on it and visiting the site. Im just wondering if maybe its a css issue, it mainly happens when I hover over elements that a :hover attribute attached to it. if you can supply me with an email I can show you the image I capturedAugust 22, 2012 at 9:23 pm #87486
ya I can make it happen by hovering over the social media icons really fast, its like the css breaks or something , really weird. I have captured a few shots now with the issue if u have an email I can send them tooAugust 23, 2012 at 5:20 pm #87487
You can send the information to my email at DevinVinson (at) gmail.com. Make sure to include a link to this topic so that my spam filter doesn’t grab it :)
Please keep the size of the images to a minimum or use an image hosting service and send me links.
Your themes style.css still shows it being version 1.2.0 so please update to the most recent version available from your downloads on themeforest. I believe it is currently at version 1.5.

Devin I have created a page for your viewing , http://www.clearsolid.com/black-images/ , something weird is going on for sure as I have quite a few people seeing the same thing when they come to the site. I have not even begun to edit the themes code yet, just been using the panelAugust 23, 2012 at 5:52 pm #87490
if you mouse over the social icons at the top and the slider very fast going back and forth you can see the flash of black showing up , almost like the hover properties are trying to catch up or something. I can reproduce this black almost everytime.August 23, 2012 at 7:04 pm #87491
I believe this might be the issue http://viget.com/inspire/webkit-transform-kill-the-flash . I cant reproduce this issue in firefox or IE, just chromeAugust 27, 2012 at 4:04 pm #87492
I’ll tag the topic for Kriesi to take a look at. He will be able to see about implementing something like the above link if it is doable and doesn’t cause any other issues :)
DevinSeptember 14, 2012 at 8:57 pm #87493
Any word on whether a fix will be implemented for this issue or not. I keep hearing more and more about this from people coming to the site
thanks :)September 18, 2012 at 3:47 pm #87494
I just noticed on looking back at your site that you are using 1.2.0 of Choices and the version available from Themeforest is at version 1.5.
Definitely try updating your theme files. You can just upload the new theme version right on top of the old to overwrite all existing outdated files.

Hi Devin, thank you I have updated the theme to its current version , unfortunetly I noticed the black elements immediately when I went to the site in chrome. I cannot reproduce these black elements in IE or FF or OP , only chrome and safari. I have a feeling the above link might fix this issue but I dont want to make changes if you are going to release a fix for this problem. Anyways please keep me posted on your actions,
Thanks and have a great weekend! :)

Yarr, I have seen the beast with my own eyes! But was so surprised that i fired up firebug, and the thing immediately disappeared.. But I made a composite drawing of what it looked like more or less (not real screenshot of the problem). http://i.imgur.com/d079C.jpg
Come to think of it, it was more or less the same width and height as the slider,
You have :
right at the place where it began that servers no purpose. Would you remove it please.
This is so rare, and almost impossible to replicate (50 reloads). I did empty the cache the first time..
I wouldn’t worry about it too much and when something is found, there will be a fix if this is even caused by a theme file or some weird interaction with that jquery you have on the bottom of the page in an iframe
NickSeptember 24, 2012 at 7:19 pm #87498
Hey Nick , thank you for pointing the paragraph tag out…. I removed it. I know this is not a major issue and I am glad you were able to reproduce this , shows im not going crazy lol . If at any point this issue escalates and requires some sort of fix I think that http://viget.com/inspire/webkit-transform-kill-the-flash might be a possible fix. I might add Nick , that its not just the element in the screen capture that you got , this occurs randomly through out the site , Ive seen it show up in almost any part of the site, you can see here http://www.clearsolid.com/black-images/ . Anyways I appreciate all of your feedback and hopefully someday we can resolve this weird issue as I am using your theme for my own site lol :)

I’ve tagged Peter and Kriesi on this to see if either has any thoughts on what might be going on.
