    Greetings

i get the following message when i install the enfold-child theme:

Installing Theme from uploaded file: enfold_child.zip
    Unpacking the package…
    Installing the theme…
This theme requires a parent theme. Checking if it is installed…
The parent theme could not be found. You will need to install the parent theme, enfold, before you can use this child theme.
    Theme installed successfully.

meanwhile the enfold theme is installed and active and working. It makes no difference if the main theme in enabled or not … still get this same error. Have tried checked the in the .php file that ‘template: enfold’ has no spelling or caps errors. where to from here?

i notice others have had this problem before, but none documented how they got around it, only that they did.

    Hey!

Your parent theme path seems to be the culprit of the issue:

    /wp-content/themes/enfold/enfold/

    Should be:

    /wp-content/themes/enfold/

thank you. that was exactly it. Problem Solved.
if anyone else finds this in the future looking for an answer to the same problem … the path error is in the hosting directories, where the .zip file automatically unpacks a directory structure that the child theme cannot find. so all you need to do is move all the contents of the enfold directory one level up (and leave the _MACOSX folder in the same place) and, for me, it all worked itself out from there.
