If you have troubles since the update to WordPress 4.5 please read this post before opening a new thread.
We have ticked the Excerpt check box in Screen Functions so that we can write excerpts for our content rather than using the ‘read more’ function. But when we write content in the post’s excerpt box it doesn’t appear at all on the pages where those posts are displayed.
Obviously we want to be able to see the whole post when it is linked to, but in all other instances where it it is referenced we just want to display a specific excerpt.
We suspect it has something to do with the Loop – but we don’t understand this enough. We were hoping that if you use the Excerpt feature in the post editor it would actually apear.
Thanks in advance for help and tips.
in includes/loop-index.php replace:
the_content(__('Read more →','avia_framework'));
echo "<a class='permalink' href='".get_permalink()."' rel='bookmark' title='". __('Permanent Link:','avia_framework')." ".get_the_title()."'>".__('Permalink','avia_framework')."</a>";
