If you have troubles since the update to WordPress 4.5 please read this post before opening a new thread.
It’s me Once again,
I only want certain posts to show up on the homepage so how do I go about doing that? How do I exclude certain posts and then so I don’t ask again, how would you extend that to excluding categories?
I tried the “Ultimate Category Excluder” but it doesn’t work for me at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
The broad answer is create a category called “Featured”. Then put any post you want included onto the main page into that category. In the theme options under Main News Page, select only the Featured category to be displayed on the main page. If you want to have a secondary category for the Featured Post at the top, Call it “Main Featured” or something similar.
Basically, you’ll use categories as a way to filter what you do and do not want on the home page. As far as I know however, you can’t exclude single posts from appearing on the front page if they are also in the category you’ve chosen to be displayed.
Ahh okay, let me try that. I’ll report back.
In the meantime any idea about my other issue?
I’m not sure what you mean? Is this in another support topic?
I meant this question http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/sidebar-125×125-advertising-area
I think I will make my .com redirect to a “Featured News” category and that will solve everything along with your suggestion!
