I want to replace the WordPress comments function with the Facebook comments plugin, but when I add it, Facebook comments appear on every page of my website.
I only want Facebook comments to appear on blog posts or photos in my Portfolio and was hoping you could give me some pointers on how to remove them from all other pages.
I also wanted to add the ‘Like’ function to all pages, but on my homepage it just decides to stick it directly above the slider and doesn’t give me any obvious options for positioning it elsewhere.
You can see my website at http://www.eatdrinkgive.com.au (although I haven’t enabled all the Facebook functionality due to the issues mentioned above).
All you should have to do is go to each page of your website and uncheck Allow Comments and Allow Trackbacks. In order to see that option you may need to click “Screen Options” in the top right then check Discussion. (Click on “Screen Options” again to close the panel.)
The plugin may have another option but you’ll need to consult it’s documentation/support forum.
As far as adding the “Like” button, if you’re not using a plugin then you’ll want to edit one of the template files. I suggest since you want to add to all pages you choose to put the script either in the header.php or footer.php. You will need to grab the code from Facebook and you’ll more than likely need to add some CSS to your custom.css or Quick CSS under Theme Options to position the button exactly how/where you want.
Hope this helps!
