    I get an error with Facebook on both firefox & chrome on windows 7.

    Firefox doesn’t even bring up the Facebook login. Chrome will do that but then nothing happens except an error.

    I get a RED link on my page “Error”. When I click on that to see what that says it’s below:

    “The href URL must be absolute”

    Both FF & Chrome list the same error:

    The href URL must be absolute

    Thanks

    Hi jdgunn,

    At what point and where is this happening on your site? Can you show us the live example?

    Regards,

    Devin

    Yes sure, just visit this URL to see how the interaction works:

    Both Firefox & Chrome have errors.

    Thanks

    I’m not getting any errors on that page on my end. Is it a specific task that causes the error?

    Devin, did you click on the Facebook LIKE button? That is where the problem is. Both firefox & chrome. If I could post screen grabs I would.

    Thanks

    You can post a link to a screenshot and host it on any image hosting service (ex imgur, tinypic etc).

    I tried out the like option while not logged in but still not running into any issue at this point.

    Hi,

    We are experiencing the same problem, we tested in FF and are on mac platform (safari works fine).

    If you hover over the ‘like’ then there is no action in FF. the text disappears and the mouse dows not change to the finger icon… the Tweet button works fine…

    Hi,

    Please add the following css block to the bottom of the /css/custom.css file; OR to Quick CSS located in the admin area of Choices > Theme Options > Styling … the text area at the bottom of that page:

    #top .fb_iframe_widget span {
    height: 261px !important;
    width: 474px !important;
    }
    #top .fb_iframe_widget iframe {
    height: 261px !important;
    width: 474px !important;
    }

    Thanks,

    Nick

    Hi,

    Sorry about that. My mistake for the delay.Took a while to figure out what is going on there.

    It looks like if you want to use the Like Button in this format you will need to signup for a Facebook appID for your website ( https://developers.facebook.com/apps ). Otherwise Facebook only allows the simple like button without the comment or share abilities. This is why on Chrome the popup comment box doesnt show without hacking the code and why on IE there is that blinking.

    You can also deactivate this, and simply use one of the hundreds of social media plugins that add the simple button.

    I’ve already signed up for the facebook developer app thing since it was required for this with the Choices template I purchased. Now I just added that code to my QuickCSS and it seemed to fix the POP UP for the Facebook but I still get an error.

    Basically in FF or Chrome I can now hover my mouse over the LIKE button and see the counter & the options to click on it and LIKE it.

    Once you actually do that then you get a popUp with the Facebook LOGIN. You go through that process and that’s when I get the error.

    The error states “The href URL must be absolute”

    I have no idea where to change that.

    So this still doesn’t work correctly.

    Thanks

    Hey jdgunn,

    I’ve tagged the topic for Kriesi to take a look at as I’m not sure what the best way forward is from here. It may be that it should be replaced with a plugin in the future or just re-done to work better with facebook updates/changes.

    Regards,

    Devin

    Hey! Yep we will actually remove the functionality from teh theme. the constant updates from facebook and twitter api are causing too many errors. A plugin that is properly managed by someone who has experience with these APIs is definitley a better solution
