I'm trying to adapt it for an existing theme but it hard due to portfolio post type and no choice with other custom post type
Is it possible to display posts the same way (grid) as portfolio (multiple entries)
Post could be filtered with categories or post-format

I am sorry, currently thats not possible since it would require some heavy modifications :/
I have added this to my research list, maybe there is an easy option to fix this but right now I dont see how this could work without ripping some templates appart ;D

I dit make some changes on a child theme that do the work.

by modifying:
template-blog.php (copying template-portfolio.php) and changing post type and category
includes\loop-blog.php
The great thing would be to be able to select a grid post Element in the template builder
