If you have troubles since the update to WordPress 4.5 please read this post before opening a new thread.
sometimes the loading icon on the featured images does not go away, but keeps happily spinning over the already loaded image…
Happens in the blog overview as well as in single post view.
Tried with/without caption, etc. – no change. This is the second post where this happens, on other posts it is ok – and I am not aware of doing anything different. Does not seem to be a browser issue either.
hah, *lol* – figured it out. If this happens to you as well: check your images.
The problem is that the preload-image is not hidden after the real image loaded, but remains to be in the background.
Guess what happens if you use an image with transparency as featured image?
Exactly. The spinning wheel remains visible THROUGH the featured image.
Maybe something to fix for future releases (really hide the preload div once the real image gets loaded), but in the meantime: just use images without transparency (e.g. jpeg, or png re-saved without transparency)…
