Hi Doug,
It would be a bit difficult. I would say the best approach would be to set your footer area to 2 columns in the theme options. Then, set it up with the content you want via the widgets options (even if its just a simplified version).
Then with some specific css hacks the 50% width could be overwritten to give you more like a one third+two third layout or 25% and 75%.
If you can get the first part set up we can probably help with the second (since how I would do it would use the individual widget ID's).
