If you have troubles since the update to WordPress 4.5 please read this post before opening a new thread.
Just updated coherence and propulsion themes, both frontpage templates are greyed out and cannot be edited. I am using child themes on both.
My first thoughts are that either a file in the framework isn’t being associated with the child theme or a file is corrupt. Was this working prior to your updating?
I’m going to tag Peter (Dude) and Devin to this though. They may know more.
I tagged this thread for Kriesi. Personally I think this issue is triggered by a db error but I’m not sure.
Yes, they was working perfectly prior to the updates. Sorry it took a while to come back and post, but still am having the issue
No worries BadMuffin. Kriesi was tagged so hopefully he’ll have an answer or know more.
Thank you, Mya. Hopefully we can get this fixed.

You can try following to fix the issue – open up choicesincludesadminregister-admin-options.php and delete following line:
array( 'slug' => 'frontpage', 'parent'=>'templates','icon'=>"layout_header_footer_3_mix.png", 'title' => 'Frontpage', 'sortable' => 'avia_sortable' )
SInce I have never encountered a similar issue I can also only recommend to delete the fixed frontpage array (as stated above) and try to add one via options panel…
For whatever reason, and don’t ask me why because I don’t know, the frontpage started working on both themes.??? Perplexed…but happy. :)
