    In my theme “shoutbox”, I have it set to display 3 “full sized entries” at the top in the “Main News Page” section. How can I set those posts to ACTUALLY be full length posts?

    I would also like to make the length of text longer on the category pages.

    Thank you so much for your help!!

    Hey,

    In your includes folder open up loop-index.php, at line 11 you’ll see $excerpt_big = 150;

    Change this number to any value you think is high enough for all your characters to fit.

    You can do the same in loop-archive.php on line 17 with

    $excerpt = 75;

    This will also affect Archive pages though.

    I changed the number as you said… it did work for the archive posts, but it didn’t work for the home page top posts? I even changed the number to 10,000 just to be sure & they didn’t change at all? Is there another setting that I should be looking at?

    Thanks so much,

    Pearl

    It seems like there is a limit to the number it will allow – it seems to be somewhere around 325 or so.

    I have really tried to find some sort of other setting / code / area to change / files to change /

    I manually went through all the posts in the “shoutbox” forum area / with no answers.

    If you can please give me the “clue” as to where to look to help the front blog “full posts” actually become

    full posts, I would SO appreciate it!

    ** Having more text on your page helps your site rank better in google, because they feel you have unique

    content to offer – thus – I would like to try to include at least the few top posts in full text.

    Thanks so much

    ps – I didn’t want you to think that I was leaving everything up to you without trying to help myself :) I also

    want to buy my 2nd theme, but I’m a bit nervous to buy another one until I can get this little basic item

    figured out.

    This is on the shoutbox forums somewhere frugally4u. I’ve seen it asked a few times. Try some of the earlier entries. You have to change the loop, but off the top of my head I can’t remember how exactly.

    Hey,

    in includes/loop.index.php replace:

    if(!is_single())
    {
    echo avia_excerpt($excerpt);
    }
    else
    {
    the_content();
    }

    with:

    the_content();

    2) ** Having more text on your page helps your site rank better in google, because they feel you have unique

    content to offer – thus – I would like to try to include at least the few top posts in full text.

    I doubt this is right because you create duplicate content which eventually can harm your seo. Obviously the “unique” content is already on the single page….
