I created a Portfolio Item and added a bunch of images in Featured Media. The portfolio shows fine in my Portfolio page. However, when I create a gallery in a Page with a shortcode like [gallery id="101"] (101 being the post id of the portfolio item), the gallery doesn't show up on the page. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

MemberOK, so in this example http://www.kriesi.at/themes/angular/template-files/gallery/, the images didn't come from portfolio items I assume.
#1. Is there an avia way of displaying a gallery based on a portfolio item then?
#2. Alternatively, is there a way to show selected (based on a category) portfolio thumbnails (like in a portfolio page) in the middle of regular pages?Thanks!

ModeratorThat is correct, those images are from the regular wordpress upload/gallery.
Not for a single portfolio item no. You can use the template builder to display portfolio items using the Portfolio element. Then on the specific page you are working with you can choose to use that template as the layout for the page.
If you have a specific layout in mind, maybe we can help guide you in creating the specific template(s).
