On the single.php pages for either posts or portfolio items, the gallery thumbnails are different shapes and sizes http://fidoloves.com/blue-dog-photo-shoot/

Ultimately I would like them to be square no matter the orientation of the photo. But in this gallery all the shots are landscape. Where do I fix this?

If I add a 150×150 thumbnail to the functions.php can I have square thumbnails?

changed the portfolio from draft to published so you can see the issue; sorry.

    Hey,

Have you adjusted the image sizes in functions.php at all?

Are you using the featured images to display these images, or simply uploading images and inserting them into posts?

I did adjust the image size in functions.php

The top image is a featured image, the lower ones with the broken borders are embedded through the wordpress editor

the thumbnails for the gallery are created by the gallery shortcode.

The gallery shortcode is a WP core function so we can’t change the output easily. You can check if you’ve selected “Crop thumbnail to exact dimensions (normally thumbnails are proportional)” under Settings > Media. If that doesn’t help I can recommend Nextgen image gallery: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nextgen-gallery/ which I used on several sites and which allows you to display thumbnails with fixed dimensions (squares, etc.). (i.e. like on this page: http://bit.ly/e8Jg3f )

to fix the gallery thumbnails, I had to check the crop proportional box and change the thumbnails to a 130×130 size. They were at 150×150 which was too big.

    Thank you for the help,

I wish there was a gallery shortcode to use the inpost avia slider without having to write out the individual image urls

If I’ve some free time I maybe look into it. It should’nt be too difficult…
