Hi – I have just purchased the habitat theme and had it installed. However the slider doesn’t seem to be working. I have uploaded 2 pictures to my latest post and they appear as static images one below the other. How can I get the slider to work?
Also I have imported a whole load of posts from my previous blog theme – and again none of the posts have sliding images. Do I need to go back to each post, delete all the images and re-load them? (once the slider starts working)November 7, 2010 at 10:17 am #36933
Did you attach your images as “featured images”. The option is located on the right sidebar in your post/paged editor.November 7, 2010 at 4:39 pm #36934
I hadn’t done that but I’ve now tried to insert as as a ‘featured’ image and it doesn’t let me upload anything. I have deleted the images and re-uploaded as featured image. It seems to upload but it then doesn’t show up in the post at all. Not sure what I am doing wrong? Please advise. Many thanks.November 7, 2010 at 5:06 pm #36935
I have tried again and again. In the ‘Featured Image’ option, I click insert image. It then allows me to browse and pick an image which I do. Then I click on the ‘insert image as additional featured image’ button in the uploader and nothing happens. Don’t know what I am doing wrong but I am very keen to get this working as I was hoping to go live with this today. Please help! Thanks.November 8, 2010 at 8:18 am #36936
Maybe some theme files or WordPress files are corrupt. Please try to reupload all theme files and/or WP files again.November 9, 2010 at 4:15 am #36937
I also purchased your habitat theme over a month ago and css person told me they could not figure out why the slider was not working and I should try your forum. I need to get the slider working and also figure out how to get rid of a blank gray box on the right (I have no need for blogging with this theme so I removed all that info but the gray box still remains). Also, how do I get rid of the “features” in your template (bottom right)?
The fundamental problem with the slider is whenever I try to create a ‘featured image’ there is no button in your media library area that says “add featured image”. I have two options in that area: “insert image into post” or “save all chages”. There is no “add featured image”.
I’d rather not put my website up on your forum since it is an embarrassing catastrophe right now. When I registered I put that info in there..
Thanks for your help.November 9, 2010 at 7:39 am #36938
We’ve tried removing and re-uploading all the files and the slider still isn’t working. I am getting a bit anxious now as I really need to get the site out there and the slider function is very important for me.
When I try and upload a featured image – I choose an image either from my gallery or from my computer, upload it. It then shows a tab saying ‘insert image as additional featured image’ which I click on and nothing happens.
I’m really at a loss as to what to do next but I need to get this resolved very soon now.
Please get back to me as soon as you can. Thanks.November 9, 2010 at 9:03 am #36939
Please send me your login details to: email@example.com and I’ll have a look at it.
I had two cases with exact the same problem – both were solved by uploading the WP files and theme files. The featured image function caused an error which disappeared after all files were uploaded again.November 9, 2010 at 9:13 am #36940November 9, 2010 at 9:34 am #36941November 9, 2010 at 6:55 pm #36942November 10, 2010 at 7:14 am #36943January 18, 2011 at 5:32 am #36944
Was there a resolution to this issue? I am experiencing the same problem. I completely reinstalled wordpress and the theme and I can still not get the featured images to work. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

no we couldn’t solve this problem because the hoster blocked loopback connections. Aviaslider and the featured image function won’t work without these connections.January 19, 2011 at 2:49 am #36946
ok- well…do you have any other suggestions? My purchase of the theme was predicated upon the assumption that this would work as advertised.
I use MediaTemple for all of my sites which is a reputable site and I was unaware of any permission issues. Is there anything I can change server side to work it out?
Thanks in advance.January 19, 2011 at 9:06 am #36947
please contact the host if they block loopback connections. Maybe they can change the settings for you. If they don’t block these connections I’ll look into it. Maybe it’s a plugin conflict. If they block these connections you can only change the hoster (like the person who started this thread).
