Help with Menu and CSS

Hi
I have this menu issue with CSS, i know it may be easy but i cant figure out. i went to style.css, and minimal-skin.css to make my own changes. i know... i should used the custom.css but i had no idea what was controling what.i used firefox inspector to inspect the css but everytime i was making changes they were not appliying.

what i am triying to accomplish is a nice menu with that color on the screenshot. No hover, just simple menu with sub menus in boxes. (maybe i will keep the separator but i forgot where that was changed.) so for now i am triying to get rid of a white line that always appear on the left. i was not able to find its properties on any style.

Also, was wondering.. about the button (on the other pointed arrow) i know the background is controled by the header and footer color. so i went to the style (removed the background image ) apply a single color and nothing happend. i try on both style sheets styles.css and minimal-skin.css and nothing.

Could someone please give me a hand... usually easy task are so complicated to me, and diffcult taks i made it in 3 seconds , yes thats me :)

Hi Valentinosa,

Try using the theme options in the admin backend editor to change your header and footer color, not going directly to the css. In the editor, when I click the theme name I can choose 'Theme Options' > Styling.

When you do need to edit the css directly you may need to include IDs or classes on surrounding elements that are higher in the cascading path, not just the class that's immediately applied the item. I've found it to be tricky to discover which are required but some experimentation helps.

The menu classes you're looking for Valentinosa are:

.main_menu .avia_mega > li > a {
    background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #F8F8F8;
}

.main_menu .avia_mega > li:hover > a, #top .main_menu .avia_mega > .current-menu-item > a {
    background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #F8F8F8;
}

The big button would be:

div .callout .big_button {
    background-color: #2C3547;
}

.callout .big_button {
    color: #FFFFFF;
}

Thank you MYA, but thats was actually my question. i do make changes to

div .callout .big_button {
background-color: #2C3547;
}

.callout .big_button {
color: #FFFFFF;
}

but it seem they do not get apply...

Hmm...

First try, add !important out to the side like this:
```
div .callout .big_button {
background-color: #2C3547 !important;
}

.callout .big_button {
color: #FFFFFF !important;
}
```
If that doesn't work paste the CSS you added here or give us a link so we can look at the website live.

}

was the fix,

that css code was not present in the original style i got, when i purchase the theme, dont know why...
