    I would like to disable playback on the portfolio gallery but of course not once the item is pulled up in AJAX.

    A user once suggested:

    but it rendered playback disabled as well.

    Perhaps I can disable slideshow_overlay class just on the homepage, as thats the only portfolio gallery?

    Would that be:

    slideshow_overlay.home { display: none; }

    or what?

    I’m horrible at CSS hierarchy.

    Try following css code

    .portfolio-sort-container .comboslide .slideshow_overlay {
    display: none;
    }

    It should only hide the playback icon overlay of the slideshows within the portfolio grid but it will not affect the playback icon of the ajax preview.

    One final hope – is there any way that when the AJAX preview loads, it can be just the Vimeo iframe – without having to click the overlay to view it?
