Can you tell me the different aspects of the homepage demo site. You can see my website here: jomode.be/store
It doesn’t look anything like it. I can’t seem to get the 4 recent posts like on the demo site.
Hope you can help fast, I need to show something in a couple of hours.
Thanks!April 2, 2013 at 3:08 pm #113071
The demo is set up using the Frontpage template builder template which should have been created when you installed the theme. If not, it uses a Columns element and a post from category for each column in the recent posts section.
Everything else is just a combination of Heading elements, the Product Slider, Horizontal Ruler and a Page Split after the Products element.

For some reason the homepage did not look like the demo after installing. Is it possible to send me the content of the page and a screenshot of the frontpage template and maybe other details that make it look like it does.
My biggest problem is the blog posts. I just can’t get them to look like on the demo site. I tried adding the blog posts widget to the html code on the page by using a shortcode and I tried using the blog element in the frontpage template, but it’s not doing the trick.
Hope you can help!April 2, 2013 at 3:48 pm #113073
The Recent Blog entries is a Column element, not a blog or anything else. You add the Column element in and then each column pulls a post from a category.
The best way to see how things are set up in the demo is to create a test installation of wordpress, install the theme and then use the Insert Dummy data button in the main theme options. This will install basic pages, posts, products and change all the settings to what the demo has.
Doing so on a installation where you have already set up files may cause issues and overwrite your current changes so it isn’t recommended.

In the template builder I have selected to not display the page title, but it does anyway.April 3, 2013 at 7:29 am #113075

Yes, I was able to get the blog posts showing like on the demo site, great!
What is missing in your demo content is the part on the homepage where you have a right sidebar. I would like a right sidebar next to my introduction text (check my site jomode.be/store), but no sidebar where the 4 blogposts are displayed. Is that possible?April 4, 2013 at 11:32 am #113078April 4, 2013 at 1:48 pm #113079
You would need to use a Columns element for the text area in that case as its the only way to add a specific widget area to a section like that.

so the newsletter and text widget that you can see on the homepage are not actually widgets? these are not visible with the demo content. can you send me the code of how you added the text widget?
thanks!April 5, 2013 at 1:50 pm #113081
any chance you can send it now? I would need to send the site to the client in an hourApril 5, 2013 at 1:56 pm #113082
The Newsletter is set up as a widget yes. When you use the Products element you can set it to force a sidebar and that is how the demo has it.
If you want to add a widget area with text, you can use the Columns element and set one of the columns to be a widget. It just depends on how you want to set up the home page and what combination of items you want to show.
There is no code to add the widget that I can send, its just the Frontpage Template that the theme is using which is a combination of the elements available within the Template Builder.
The best and easiest way to see how its done is to set up a test installation of wordpress, install the theme there and then use the Import dummmy data button in the main theme options to populate that test installation with the same layout as the demo.
