I’ve been trying to change the images in my home page slider, I’ve successfully deleted the old ones, but when I click the “green plus” button to add a new slide, I get this error: “Adding of element successful but the script generated unexpected output”. I can still upload the new image, once I click “use as featured image” and close the upload media dialog, I see an icon for a video reel, but not a thumbnail of the image, it also doesn’t show on the site, just an html link and then scrolls to the next image.

To give you some more info, I get the same error when I try and add a slider component to a new template in the Template Builder…September 15, 2012 at 1:20 am #90741
Are you running the latest versions of Abundance as well as WordPress? Do you have plugins installed? If so, try deactivating those then try again.
MyaSeptember 17, 2012 at 9:04 am #90742
I am running the latest versions of Abundance and WordPress. I do have quite a few plugins installed, I’m going to disable them one by one and see if perhaps one of them is causing the problem. I’ll let you know my findings…

The culprit was the Sabre plugin (Simple Anti Bot Registration Engine), I’ve disabled it. Now I just need to find an alternative to stop all those spam registrations I receive.

Glad that you found the culprit. I’m sure you can find some free and good alternative plugin for that, that might be compatible with the theme. I think akismet is the best plugin for it but it’s not free.

I looked through the installation but didn’t find any issues that would explain the error. The only thing I can think of is if the file had an error when downloaded so you could try re-downloading from Themeforest and see if that fixes the issue.

The problem seems to center around this image http://www.artecobijoux.it/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/featured3-697×340.jpg being inserted a few dozen times in between the closing LI tag and the closing UL tag. (a location where code is not supposed to be present)
There were a few dozen more images within the same div structure i had to delete just so the start and the end of the sequence would fit on the screen.
This is a ‘ghost in the machine’ error. The best way to solve it is to delete the database, and to not import the xml data since I believe that each time you reinstalled WordPress and the theme, either the database wasn’t cleared or if it was cleared , the dummy data xml file was immediately imported. Thus the solution is to install this http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-reset/ plugin , delete the database, and leave wordpress and the theme as is, and to recreate the slider using some other images that you plan on using in your theme.

I changed the DB and now the template works!
But I have another little problem: I need dummy data! How can I get it without risks?
Let me know!
MApril 17, 2013 at 7:43 am #90752
Try importing the dummy data that came with the theme. If this was the first time you reset the database, there is a good chance the first import was somehow interrupted. Sometimes the import takes a while and even I sometimes forget that its doing it and browse away somewhere else. I once had to wait 9 minutes. Just open up a different browser window and do something else meanwhile, because the import must be allowed to finish without interruption. Because on my local theme setup I am not experiencing this problem at all.
