I dont want the front page to display anything but the Main Gallery slider, and the side bar.
Or, if I need to have a blog entry, I’d like to have it displayed on a different section of the page, like near the lower right corner.
Click Flashlight > Theme Options and look for Frontpage Settings, select the page you want to be as your homepage. Below that set your blog page, And where do you want to display the Blog?.
Edit you homepage, add images and set Gallery Layout as “As background slider only”.
I understand the basic theme settings, but I want mine to look more like the demo http://www.kriesi.at/themedemo/?theme=flashlight
I like how there is a separate box off to the right, and nothing coming off of the top of the left sidebar.
It just looks cleaner to me that way.
The box off to the right on the demo is called the “Mini Content Area”. You’ll find that under the Layout Options box on Pages > Whatever your homepage is.
As Mya said, the demo uses the Mini Content Area for the main page. This is how you get the exact same layout where all you see is the headline “Flashlight Theme” followed by tow columns using shortcodes.
