Hi I uploaded an image to the media library of 946px x 550px. It looks fine and not cropped in the media library. If I insert the image into a page or post it is cropped down to 390px height

Normally in WordPress you can insert the image into the post or page and scale it down to fit by just editing the html code. What’s happening here is the image is being cropped in the vertical so that much of it is missing (cropping to 940 x 390). if I edit the functions.php to increase the vertical on the full image size to 940 x 550, I still get the same problem.

    Thanks

    Paul

    Hey,

You can choose the size in the image upload popup window which opens when you click on the “insert image” button on your post/page editor page. You can choose between Thumbnail, Medium, Large and Full Size. Yu can change the standard thumbnail dmensions under Settings > Media. Maybe you need to regenerate the thumbnails with: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/
