In the demo HABITAT theme under HOME there is a page named “static homepage #2” that has a full screen video option. Where in the menu do you enable this feature and can you enable the HOME page to look like this? And is it possible to keep this look and have standard written/video posts continuing down the rest of the HOME page?
what i did was go to pages and create a new page, but didn’t add it to my main nav menu. when you create the new page, you had a featured image, after that, on the left of the “edit page” you’ll see a “Page Attributes” menu, under “Template” choose “Full Width, that means you want your featured image you just added to display full width, its the full width template.
After you do that, to make it a static page and the first page people visit when they to your site, go to “reading” under “settings” and choose it as the “front page” after you publish the above page like i said, it should be under that list. I had asked the same question here, but after messing around with it, I eventually got it. Let me know if it works for you.
actually choose “default template” under page attributes if you want it to look like the static page #2, what i said was for the static page 1 sorry
Thanks for the reply!
I am somewhat following you explanation but I’m a newbie so it’s a slow-go.
I guess I’m not following why we cannot apply the change to the HOME page itself instead of having to build a whole new page?
The thought of trying to build an exact replica of the HOME page sounds hairy for someone with my lack of skills.
Is there a way to copy it so I wouldn’t have to rebuild from scratch?
you can use their page if you want then, it already done, you would just have to change the word and featured picture/video. the page is under pages and its called “again, why habitat?”, after you edit it, save it, and go to settings>reading> and make it ur front page.
