How can I activate the mega menu feature in Shoutbox? I don’t see it in the documentation or in the theme options.
Thank you.September 14, 2011 at 11:43 pm #52055
I found out where to activate the mega menu, but now I don’t know how to get content to show up in it (like the demo on http://www.kriesi.at/themes/shoutbox/)
Can you offer some assistance on how I can get photos or content to display in the mega menu? It’s not in your documentation.
Thank you.September 15, 2011 at 6:06 am #52056September 15, 2011 at 12:03 pm #52057
I just spent a couple of hours trying to get my head around it also. It’s not very user friendly at all. In the end I had to modify everything I wanted using HTML codes directly in the sub menu box, which I’m sure isn’t the best way to do this.
I think the MM is a great idea. But it needs to be easier to use. More like creating a post or page. Or simply that it pulls post/page content straight in so you don’t have to fiddle about with menus and sub menus and sub sub menus and HTML tags.September 15, 2011 at 4:04 pm #52058
I agree with rumblefish, it’s not very user-friendly. It appears one would have to go into the menu system and update the html code every time you want to do something new. What if I wanted dynamic content in the mega menu that changes when I add a new post or page? Is that currently feasible?
On a side note, you guys did an excellent job on the rest of the theme. Good work!September 16, 2011 at 5:52 am #52059
It’s not possible to add dynamic content directly. The description field supports shortcodes though so you can insert your dynamic content with shortcodes. The menu isn’t intended to be used with dynamic content so the styling of the text/headlines, etc. may be a problem. That said I think the menu is very intuitive (if I consider alternative ways how to handle it and the limitations we face (wordpress standard function & standard menu manager, etc.)).September 16, 2011 at 8:03 am #52060
“The description field supports shortcodes”
Any useful info like that should be in the helper description where it says “Use the description to create a Text Block. Dont display this item as a link. (note: dont remove the label text, otherwise wordpress will delete the item)”. It would help a lot!
