I am looking for a solution for the trouble with the featured images.

I would like them to be different heights. Can it be set?

In other words — how to disable the stretching of small images to a standard size.

Actually it would be great to use as featured images my pictures in their original size and proportions. Is that possible?

    Hi aserakov,

Is this for posts or portfolio items? With either one its generally possible but there are a few different steps. At that point however you’ll lose a lot of the auto formatting that happens to get the image in place and cleaning up a smaller image to be centered for instance won’t be possible.

    Hi, Devin,

    I mean blog posts.

It seems to me — working without auto-formatting will be easer :)

The best way to go about it, is to first install the Simple Image Sizes plugin ( ). The plugin will give you complete control over images: setting constraints for specific locations like blog, thumbnails, portfolio, gallery, shop, etc. along with the ability to set whether to crop an image or not in Settings > Media.

Changing the dimensions of images does NOT automatically change all the images already uploaded but only affects new uploads. To change the sizes of images already uploaded, you will need to use the Regenerator – also a part of the Simple Image Sizes and found on the bottom of Settings > Media. Don’t forget that images scale down, so always upload images bigger (or the same) as the constraints you set in Settings > Media (with the plugin) or you will get blurry (stretched) or incomplete images.

So what you would need to do after installing, is fine the current size being used for images in Settings > Media and change it to the dimensions you want to use with the crop being on (button turns blue).

I have already installed this plugin. However, it does not give the possibility to use different sizes of images.

I would like to use images of any size (but not more than 450×255).

Simple Image Sizes enables to set the size and choose between «crop» and «stretch», but does not allow to disable resize my pictures.

I am looking a way to avoid changing size of featuring images. Is it possible?

What type of Blog images do you have? Big preview, medium or small?
