If you have troubles since the update to WordPress 4.5 please read this post before opening a new thread.
On PC and ipad where the screens are larger, the default landing page is the frontpage as set up in the Template Builder. However, this is not so for Mobile devices. How can we set the default landing page on Mobile devices?
You would need to use a plugin that can detect and target mobile devices and show a different home page for those devices.
There is nothing in the theme settings that has support for that at the moment.
I find this ironical. Propulsion is a responsive theme yet I need to install a plugin to detect for mobile devices in order to show a different home page. Since this is a responsive theme, why is such a functionality not in-built into the theme in the first place?
A responsive theme means the layout and code that makes up the page “responds” the the device viewing the site.
What you are describing is a completely different function. There are many plugins available out there to do that, but responsive design is put into place to prevent exactly that.
The point is to provide a way for the site to adapt to the users screen in a way that presents the content in a easily digestible format without having to re-do or re-make your pages for any one specific format.
So, the reason it isn’t built into the theme is because it isn’t in the spirit of responsive design.
Finally discovered why the default landing page in that mobile device is different from the frontpage set up in the Template Builder. Whoever bookmark the page in the mobile device has bookmarked a sub-page instead of our main domain page. Hence everytime we went to that page in the mobile device via the bookmark, we never get the same page as on our laptop or PC. No plugin is required.
Ah I see now. I had thought you wanted to make a different page show as the home page on mobile (which the theme doesn’t do) and not that it was already happening for some reason.
Glad you were able to find an easy resolution and let us know if you have any other issues :)
